Roof in the Sun-SOLD

this one wont have a bunch of people lined up to click the "buy now" button, that's for sure. this is one i painted ONLY because i wanted to. lets me know that i havent sold out to the urge to paint ONLY thinking of whether something will sell or not. i like the way it came out and expressed the color key of the moment. this will make me a better painter for the ones i WILL paint thinking only of sales LOL

  1. Don't be so hard on this little gem! My eye was really attracted to the strong angles of the roof and how you captured the light in your values. I like it!

  3. Enlarging the image really reveals the differences in tones and values that aren't readily apparent otherwise-makes me appreciate the effort even more. And thanks for the reminder about why we should paint, if so inclined.

  4. I echo the sentiments of other readers here Mike. I really like this one for those sharp shapes and essence of sun on the roof.
It has a Hopper-esque sharp fuzzyness to it and to my eye it really works.

I really admire how you take on anything and show it's characteristics.
