Another yet

this ones from my trip inland last week. i really liked the sky in this one. mixed up several light violets and several light ochres and it helped tie the sky and field together nicely. i love to paint at this time of day, when this one was done, around 5 pm.
its the "golden hour" when the sun is low in the sky, the light is very golden/orange and shadows are long.
Carolina Fields- 8x10- going to the Art Source show in September

Mike,
I love your clean colors; there is a wonderful sense of warm light in your work.

thanks for the nice words. its wonderful to hear you say that you like the warm light in my stuff because thats the only thing i'm trying to convey is the lighting effect at that moment in time. and of course warm and sunny is my favorite light so painting it is a joy
i love your people and shadows. and the composition has energy because of your cropping them and not showing them full figure. the pool swimmers are cool too.
btw you took a workshop from my hero. i did his 100 blockins and quit my job 2 years ago! now i paint all day and people throw money at me. all because of his book.... isnt life strange?
