Believe it or not junk is hard to paint! gotta simplify it to make it "read" right. my plein air attempt i was obsessing about painting the junk and wasnt looking at the big picture. when i got it home it was very confusing and i was losing the barrel and boats. in the studio i simplified the pile and the foreground. all of a sudden i could see all the elements in the painting again. youve heard the saying live and learn. for painters its "paint and learn".

I love all these seashore paintings. You really have captured the light at the shore somehow. Congratulations.

Tell your readers how you lost your subject midway through your first painting, Rooney! Ahh, the trials and tribulations of site painting. See you soon!
