Blast From the Past

NFS
A painting from this summer of the wilmington riverfront. i like the way the buildings were backlit and the boats and awnings had sun on them. this little 6x8 sold before it was even dry, if i remember right. i better get back over there one morning and do a bigger one eh?
Tonite i had a fun time participating in a "Meet the Artist" reception at my gallery on Bald Head Island (Woods Gallery) with Jonathan Willis a very talented bird carver. we both did demonstration pieces for the crowd and had a fun auction of his carved bird and my painting.
a fun time was had by all! i love these soirees. its a chance to talk to past and (future, i hope) collectors and show them how a painting is created.

Oooh this is a favorite. The sun, the warm colors on the cool water. Just beautiful.

These kinds of events are great for the artist and the viewers. The process of creating captures attention and interest. Also builds up your presence which is a smart thing to do.

thanks for the nice words. it does look summery doesnt it? i'm missing those flip flops and short pants already!
about the other night.....i painted an 11x14 knife painting and auctioned it to the highest bidder with the opening bid starting at $50. cant get EBay off the mind i guess! it was great fun and gave me lots of buzz and still got a little something for my time.

Hi Mike. I can see why this sold so quickly. What a beauty! Great light effect. I'm new to the blog scene but look forward to keeping tabs on the art being created. Keep it up! Brian
