between the workshop, driving back, and then a day trip painting at bald head island (and doing a demo that night) whew!
thats why there havent been many posts or pics of paintings. i'll try hard to get a bunch up once the holiday is over. i painted one this morning i like alot and i'll put it up for sure. thanks for coming by!

Ahhh. have been wondering where you were.
Take your time.

i really meant what i said about slowing the type A personality down to maybe a B (or B+) lol
when i went fulltime i assumed that i needed a frenetic pace to survive. maybe i did then, but two years later i think those 60-80 hour weeks laid a nice firm footing for the career and arent needed quite as much as they were then.
i'm going to turn down some offers and opportunities that before i took on, just piling them on to my misery.
i'm going to blog often, but not every single day (sometimes twice a day). i'm going to lay out on the beach and enjoy holidays with my family (like i did today) i wanted to paint, but i think sometimes just out of habit)
do you ever do that? just want to paint because theres nothing else to do?
i learned that the sky didnt fall in because i slowed the pace after reading your post that day.
thanks dude.things changed for the better
i see youre posts arent running where they were pre july. i think you said you were working on alot of commissions right now?
really liked the first painting of the people walking by. i mean REALLY liked it! WTG my amigo.
Good for you Mike. Hope you had a great day with the family.
I don't have any more commissions in the works, but I have been busy and have a full plate for the fall.
frank
does that mean you slow your pace on posts when that happens?
ive noticed an overall trend on the blogs that alot (most) of the folks arent posting daily like they once were. what do you think? i may go to three times a week when i'm swamped. more posts in the winter when i'm stuck inside so much more.
Mike, Over the summer I had full time help at the gallery and Juli has been helping me out there lately too so I can get more painting done.
I post more often if I am at the gallery, because I have more time to sit at the laptop and type all that stuff up.
I have more things to post, but since I am going away soon, I was hoping to spread them out a bit so you are not all jonesing for two weeks. LOL

i guess i was terrified that i'd lose readers that i worked so hard to get, if i didnt post everyday.
do you track yours with Sitemeter? if you do track, did your numbers go way down when you went to new england and werent posting?
No, I dont have a site meter. I should install one of those. I bet there are a lot more people visiting than are leaving comments. It kind of feels like spying though.
frank
man your getting ten times or more! for instance my sitemeter says i get 225 visits per week and i only get one or two comments (if that)
you get 25 different commenters per day. so figure out what that must be..... and its not spying, you cant see who they are, its just a summary of the numbers...
Hi Mike- I'm a regular at Franks' and have also noticed on my blog that some people just jump right in and others just browse.
On the other side of things, there are several artists' blogs whose work I like, but despite the many comments I've left, they don't respond. To anyone.
To sum it up, it's sort of a two way street in that if you start a dialogue with someone and keep it reciprocal and somewhat consistent, it's the way to most likely keep
the numbers up.
And then the tentacles stretch out.
There's always that issue of keeping up with the blog and will I lose people.
If you do, well, you'll find new ones.
It can become very consuming to keep the pace for the sake of your readers.
I really like your work and feel the simple elements you render with minimum effort and confidence in your placements of colors.
Really nice paintings.
bonnieluria-
thanks for the nice words. i'm glad you see the edited down nature of my work. thats exactly the look i'm trying for. kind of like---how far can i get leaving things out and still tell what everything is. details can be left out and the viewer naturally adds the parts that are left out. that is too cool to me!
i know what you mean about leaving comments and they dont ever respond.
i make it a point to always respond back. to me its just rude to not talk back to somebody thats talking to you. thats just me tho!
people will keep coming to the blog if they get something out of it so thats more important i think than posting every single day and theres nothing there.
i love your work ethic and paintings too. youre a real go-getter too. keep up the good work.
